"A MAN STANDS ALONE"

George Stover is a veteran and wanted to honor all our brothers and sisters that gave their all, in all the conflicts, for us and others that we might have freedom. There is a very large group of men and ladies that seem to be forgotten.

This poem is to honor them.

A MAN STANDS ALONE

A man stands alone amongst a million,
he thinks of old friends now long gone,
and he longs for their friendships.

A man stands alone and thinks of,
the first time he made love to his lady,
the smell of her hair,
the softness of her skin and he desires her.

A man stands alone dreaming his dreams,
of the times of bad,
the screams of outrage as all the things
he has done comes back to him.

a man stands alone and looks at his hands,
he thinks of all that met their end to early by them,
and wonders why them instead of him,
he hopes it will never have to happen again.

A man stands alone
and hears the yells of pain,
of the men he fought so many battles with,
as the mortars fall around them.

A man stands alone and feels the burn,
of hot lead as it enters his body,
and asks if its his time to go,
he realizes he'll be able to fight again.

A man stands alone and remembers,
the bite of the needle, the high of the weed,
and the buzz of the bottle, trying to settle his mind,
he says to him self that these didn't work,

A man stands alone and kneels on one knee,
he says this verse to any one that wants to listen,
"please forgive me the things I've done,
I've fought hard and played even harder,
some I'm proud of and some I'm not,
if you can not I understand
I will bear the burden of my actions till the day I die.

There the man kneels alone,
who will listen to his plea,
his brothers in arms now and then,
will forgive me, as I kneel alone.

George also wrote this one to honor
the ones who stand for us today.

AS WE SIT BACK TO BACK

You and I we've fought many battles,
you with a rifle and rockets,
me with pen and pad,
as we sit back to back.

No matter how far and wide,
our battles may seem,
they are in fact as one,
as we sit back to back,
.
As soon as you get the call,
the fight must begin.
the fight to protect the things
we believe so much in,
as we sit back to back.

You put your life on the line,
as i did so many years ago
so we can live our lives just so.
as we sit back to back.

So I feel it is my duty to put pen to paper,
to support you in all that you do,
for the freedoms you've giving me,
as we sit back to back.

Our battle lines may never cross,
yours far from here,
and mine here at home,
as we sit back to back.

You've never failed to protect me,
this I'll never forget,
for this my support will never weaken,
as we sit back to back.
