HE WORE A CROWN

...and the Trumpets Sounded

" For God so loved the world, that He gave
His only begotten Son; That whosoever believeth in
Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."

John: 3:16

***

Soon they would know the Master's plan,
He had risen, on the third day.
In the garden he walked in testimony,
that He lives, still today.

With body whole and palms scarred deep,
all wept for His precious love.
Only through Jesus is His Father's kingdom,
and an eternal life above.

He walked that evening among his frightened disciples,
a spirit they thought he be.
"Touch my hands, my body of flesh,"
" It is I; Jesus; It is me."

And so He told them, "You must spread the word",
the prophecy has been carried through,
I died; I rose, I now walk among,
men just like you.

Many times He would appear before them,
to others He would as well.
At the sepulchre where he once lay,
about His resurrection He would tell.

For forty days He still remained,
on earth he continued His walk.
Then from Jerusalem to Mount Olivet,
He and the Disciples would talk.

They heard the sounds of the trumpet's blast,
before them appeared a cloud.
Around the Son it swallowed Him up,
and ascended to the Heavens as vowed.

In amazement they stared into the sky,
while two men in white proclaimed,
One day He will again appear,
and His believers He will claim.
