The angry crowd ,cries crucify Him,
Put a crown of thorns upon His head.
A robe of scarlet in mockery on Him,
Place a reed in His right hand.
Bowing their knees down before Him,
In mockery, these words they said,
"HAIL HIM KING OF THE JEWS.",
The reed they took and beat His head.
Cruel jokes about my Savior,
They laughed and spit upon His face.
Mockingly removed the scarlet robe,
With His own raiment, they replaced.
They marched my Savior up to Calvary,
To drink, they gave Him vinegar and gall.
The cruel men crucified Him,
On his vesture there, lots did fall.
My GOD, MY GOD, why has thou forsaken me?
With a loud voice my Savior said.
Great drops of blood ran down His cheeks,
From the crown of thorns upon His head.
The earth shook, the rocks split,
The temple curtains were rent in two.
Tombs were opened , bodies raised,
Entering the Holy City , they appeared to a few.
The centurion and those with him,
Saw it all, and when the day was done,
It seemed so strange to them,
They cried, Truly this must be the son of God
