Looking out from a
small restaurants' window, watching the
beautiful morning God gave us, while enjoying my
breakfast, I observed the following.
In the open bed of an
old beat up pickup truck sat an old beat up dog.
It appeared to be a Labrador Retriever. A big
dog, probably about 100 pounds.
An old man that also
looked a little beat up wandered down the street
and stopped when seeing the dog.
The man looked at dog,
the dog
looked at man.
Dog wagged tail, in an
excitingly friendly gesture.
The old man approached the
dog, petted and talked to him.
After about five minutes
of this, the man laid his forehead on top of the
dogs' head and both stood motionless for
sometime.
Neither said anything. To
me they seemed to be transferring thoughts of
mutual respect, love and caring for each other.
In my mind I joined them.
Heads separating, the
man bid the dog farewell and entered the
restaurant. When I asked if he knew the dog he
answered "never saw him before ten minutes ago,
but I made a new friend this morning".
I paused and thanked
God for the blessing of sharing that experience
with them. During these times of hate and
turmoil we are bombarded daily with countless
examples of evil and negative inputs.
What a joy to know we
have a God to send us experiences such as this
one to remind us that love and good still exists
for those that seek them.

you create a friend, simply be a friend!
